A LITTLE
ABOUT US
Our Founding Passion
We built Sur at the Barnyard from a simple, shared passion: to create a Carmel restaurant that feels like coming home, but with an exceptional kitchen. We dreamed of a true gathering place—a spot where you could celebrate a milestone with elegance or bring the kids for a happy, relaxed Sunday brunch, all in the same welcoming space. Whether it’s a quick weekday lunch or a celebratory weekend feast, our doors are open for lunch and dinner every single day.
The Heart of Our Restaurant: The Patio
From the beginning, our vision centered on our incredible outdoor patio. As one of the largest in Carmel, we’ve lovingly cultivated it into an open-air sanctuary. It’s the perfect place for families to laugh freely, for friends to gather for hours, and for four-legged companions to relax in the sun. It's where so many of our best memories are made.
Our Culinary Philosophy
The soul of our restaurant lives in our kitchen. We honor the American comfort foods you crave by elevating them with bold, fresh flavors and the best local ingredients. We've designed a menu that sparks conversation, is perfect for sharing among large groups, and satisfies every generation at the table.
Our Commitment to Hospitality
We’re not just a business; we are a family of hospitality professionals who believe in the power of a shared meal. We cherish the warmth of genuine service, and when you walk through our doors, you are truly our guest. It’s our pleasure to take care of every detail so you can relax and enjoy your time with us.
What Our Customers Are Saying
kind service
Super impressed with this restaurant! Delicious food, kind service and amazing vibes. I ordered the seafood linguini and it was so good, absolutely unforgettable. Good for groups (:

cozy atmosphere
This restaurant is a really special place. The atmosphere is cozy and the food is amazing. My server, Austin, was fast, attentive, and kind. I had the butternut squash ravioli with walnut encrusted chicken which was amazing. The vegetables were perfectly cooked, butternut squash flavorful, and chicken juicy and tender. I finished dinner with the mud pie. I don't have any good pictures because I enjoyed the food rather than pause for photos. I definitely recommend this restaurant for dinner!

extensive menu
What a great spot! Great staff and the food was delicious. We sat on the patio to celebrate Buddha's first birthday. They have an extensive dog menu. Buddha ordered the New York.
